Atomic Milkshake is Ars' entry in the Neutrino Factory Distributed
Computing project. The teams first place victory in phase I was a sweet
success. Over 1000 Ars members completed at least one particle
simulation in phase one of this project. The project goal is to
determine the mass of a neutrino if it has one. This project was
created by Stephen Brooks, and his site does a good job at explaining
exactly how and why its being done.
The experiment is called the Neutrino Factory, scheduled for
construction some time around 2015. Its primary aim is to fire beams of
neutrinos (fundamental particles) through the Earth's interior to
detector stations on different continents. They're doing this to
measure whether they change type en route (there are 3 types of
neutrino) and data from this in turn will allow them to determine the
neutrino's mass (and whether it even has mass).
There is a brand new web 2.0 application for the Get Things Done productivity strategy. Its called NotesAnywhere.com. You can get it at.

Currently the project is in preparation for Phase II.
